(4-5 years old)

It’s their senior year of preschool! We get them ready for the years ahead.

By creatively expressing themselves through painting, drama, music, storytelling, and writing, they will gain a lot of self-confidence. We provide them with the resources they need to create, and then we watch as they experiment. And there are teachers nearby who are always encouraging you!

Explore the prekindergarten classroom

Take a look at how we set up our classroom for prekindergartners. It’s organized for their age and stage of learning and development.

Writing the ABCs

Your child will begin practicing writing their name in pre-K, and you’ll start to notice it all over their artwork!  Additionally, we’ll practice our ABCs by describing people, places, experiences, and emotions with the help of letters and drawings.

Friends and feelings

As your child prepares for kindergarten, social skills are a major focus in pre-K.  Your child will practice communicating strong emotions and resolving conflicts verbally.  Additionally, they will converse about themselves and their families and discover the similarities and differences between one another.

Inside a prekindergartner’s day

The preschool class your child attends will have a daily routine. Preschoolers always come together for group time, to play outside, and to share wholesome meals with one another, regardless of the play and learning activities they are involved in.

Group time

Every day, group activities take place in each of our classrooms.  Together, preschoolers participate in a group activity or hear a read-aloud.

Meals and snacks

Preschoolers eat a meal every day that consists of wholesome grains, lean proteins, and fruits and vegetables—never juice or fried food.

Outdoor playtime

Weather permitting, the majority of our classes spend 20 to 30 minutes outside at least twice daily. At this age, they can really pick up speed! They can use their imaginations to play and explore during this time.

Prekindergarten curriculum

Your child will gain a deeper understanding of language, math, science, Spanish, and social skills in pre-K.

Children of all abilities, including those learning English, will learn at their own pace and in their own way because we meet each child where they are.

Building brain power and strong bodies

Simple addition, subtraction, and science predictions are all within your prekindergartner’s reach! We therefore develop the cognitive abilities required for math and science. Additionally, they will engage in at least two hours of physical activity each day.

Being a good friend and solving problems together

Prekindergartners practice resolving disputes verbally on their own or with the assistance of a teacher. By encouraging children to talk about themselves and their families and to recognize the similarities and differences among people, we also teach kindness and respect.

Making up stories and writing their names

Children weave beginning, middle, and end into their tales. Whether your child can write words like their full name or is still working on the first letter of their name, we practice writing as a form of expression.

Making art and playing music

At this age, creativity really comes to life! Children can express themselves through all forms of art, move around while following complicated instructions, and play instruments while making up songs!

Prekindergarten classroom activities

Every day, our creative teachers guide prekindergartners through fun activities that are just right for their age. Here are just a few examples!

  1. U.S. States
Kids journal about states they have lived in and visited, and then discuss! We’ll also explore two- and three-dimensional shapes on state flags and the U.S. flag.

Natural Patterns

We’ll head outside and use items like leaves, rocks, pinecones, and twigs to create patterns—starting simple, then moving on to more complex patterns.

Parking Cars

Kids identify numerals written in parking spaces drawn on paper. They park the cars in the right spaces based on the number a teacher says.
